3 Parts to Personal Development – Why It’s Critical to Your Success.




Do you know that it is just as important to work on yourself, maybe more so, as it is working on growing your business. Call it Personal Development.

Ask any top earner in the network marketing profession and I’ll bet they tell you they practice personal development on a daily basis. They know that in order to make more money they have to condition their self development plan. Some of the common reasons why people don’t practice personal development: 1)They think personal development is a bunch of hooey; 2) They don’t need to develop themselves because they are good just the way they are; or 3) Their too busy growing their business and don’t have time.

Well my friend let me just tell you, if you don’t grow yourself you won’t grow your business!

I was reading over a Personal Development guide I received from Jim Rohn International and I wanted to share some things you.

According to Jim Rohn he found that rarely did someone’s income exceed their personal development. In fact, sometimes their income may take a lucky leap, but unless they learned the responsibilities that come with it, it eventually declined to the amount they could handle.

It is a fact that you will find it hard to keep your income without doing some personal development. If you aren’t reading books or listening to personal development podcasts that help you to grow and manage your finances you will have a very difficult time sustaining your income.

Here is a great axiom of life:

To have more than you’ve got, become more than you are.

Plain and simple, if you want to grow your business, you have to grow. To do this you have to get ready for it and prepare for it.

There are three parts to personal development:

1) Spiritual

Spirituality means different things to different people. For me spirituality means to be connected with a higher being, believing in myself and my beliefs and treating people as I would want to be treated. I live by the motto “Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you.”

Spirituality may mean something different to you or maybe you’re not sure what it means at all. My recommendation whether you believe, practice or are not sure what it means to be spiritual is to become a student of the spiritual side of nature. Read and assimilate whatever you can to develop that side of yourself.

2) Physical

The mind and body work together and you have to give some attention to both. You’ve probably heard the phrase “treat your body like a temple.” So you should be taking care of it. That means feeling good about yourself physically so you have a sense of self-worth and self-confidence.

Eating proper nutrition is a start. If you’re fueling your body with junk is it no wonder you feel sluggish. Get some books on proper nutrition; there are hundreds, probably even thousands. Find one that resonates with you and start fueling your body with good stuff, and don’t forget exercise. Not only is it good for your body but you’d be amazed at what it can do for your attitude!

The second part to physical is your physical appearance. Yes this matters. If you look like a slob, well you probably are sloppy in your business matters. As much as we’d like to say “people shouldn’t judge” they do! And people won’t do business with people who look like they couldn’t take the time or effort to look presentable. Now I’m not saying this to make you self-conscious of your appearance. I’m saying that you can put on a nice shirt, brush your hair and look like the business person you are.

There is a saying that goes, “God looks on the inside and people look on the outside.”

3) Mental

You should be stretching your mind if you want to stretch your bank account. Good thinking habits, good study habits, pursuing ideas, and trying to find ways to apply them to human behavior and your business.

You should have a willingness to tackle tough subjects that other people shy away from, this can give you an extraordinary advantage. Read poetry, literature, the bible, history, biographies, things that most people wouldn’t dream of reading. You might be surprised what you will learn and could apply to growing your business and yourself.

It all boils down to; becoming the person you wish to be you have to develop skills that make you attractive to the marketplace. Think about this way: Promise is on the other side of price. For the promise you must always pay the price. If you want the glory of success, then you have to pay upfront.
