I was listening to a podcast the other day from MLM Nation. Simon had Jessie Lee on talking about how she keeps her team motivated and engaged, so I thought I would share her technique that she uses to motivate her MLM team.

Jessie Lee she has only been in the network marketing profession for a little over 4 years, she has personally recruited over 600 people, runs a multi-million dollar organization, and has the fastest growing team in her company. So my guess she is doing something right!
Jessie Lee is all about systems. She believes, and I do also, that you have to have systems otherwise everyone is just off doing their own thing and there is no structure.
Another important factor to having a thriving business and winning team is communication. You have to as a team leader stay engaged and communicate with your team members and vise versa.
Jessie’s Techniques to Motivate Your MLM Team
She has what she calls a “Team Communication Plan”
Monday is “Monday Motivational Call.” She has one of her Director’s or above conduct a motivational call to get the team members started off for great week.
Tuesday is “Team Tuesday.” At the beginning of every month she reaches out to her Director’s and above and gives them dates of the Tuesday’s of the month and ask for them to volunteer to hold the “Team Tuesday” call. They can talk about anything they feel they have knowledge on and that the team can learn from. She in turn will post in the team Facebook group maybe a prerecorded training video, an awesome direct sales article, a sales tip, etc. She also posts the monthly team sales numbers.
Note: Jessie is not all about having all the limelight. It’s okay to call on your leaders to take some of the pressure off of you and it also helps them to become outstanding leader’s themselves.
Wednesday is “Ask Me Anything.” She gives her team members 1 hour to ask her anything they want in the Facebook group and she is strict about keeping it to 1 hour.
Thursday is “Throwback Thursday.” picture post. The objective is to get your team to post pictures of something that brings back memories; for example, a picture of them at their first live training or event, or maybe a picture of when they first met their sponsor. This gets your team members to remember why they got started in the business and can get them excited again if they are starting to wane a bit. On Thursday’s she also posts YTD team sales. You can use Friday do this also and title it “Throwback Friday.”
Friday she typically does a Pop Quiz. I really like this idea because there is so much to know in our industry but yet most of us don’t take the time to learn it. So she will post a funny picture with the caption “This is a Pop Quiz.” and she will say “This is a pop quiz for the next hour. Whoever answers the questions correctly as quickly as possible will receive 1 point for every right answer and whoever has the most points at the end of the hour will be crowned our ‘Ace of the Week.”
She will then go to the winners Facebook page and grab a picture of them and post it in the group acknowledging them as the ‘Ace of the Week.’ She also acknowledges the 2nd and 3rd runner up.
This is a great way for the newbies to learn about their company, products and comp plan. Some example questions she asks are: “What is our CEO’s name?” “How do you get free products?” “If you made x amount this month, what did you have to do to earn that money?” These types of questions are great for teaching newbies how the business works. Get creative and have some fun with it.
Fridays are also a good time to remind everyone of any upcoming events, team calls, upcoming promotions, etc.
Saturday she searches through her team member’s personal Facebook profiles and looks for how they are marketing their business. If she comes across a cool post she will take a screen shot, tag the person and post it in the group and say “Wholly cow, did everyone see what Debra did this week?” and then ask the person to share how they did it.
Sunday is “Free Coaching Call Sunday.” The way she does this is at 8am she will post that her team has until 9am to post a question asking her anything they want. At 9am she does a team call, starting with recognitions then she will answer the questions people posted. If they didn’t post their question by 9am they don’t get their question answered. No if’s and or but’s! You snooze, you lose!
She then will train on a specific topic like goal setting, how to prospect strangers, how to overcome objections, etc. And then she gives them homework which is an actionable task.
Keep Your MLM Team Motivated
Personally I believe this is where a lot of leaders drop the ball; not keeping their team motivated and engaged; and they wonder why people are dropping like flies.
People like to be led, motivated, recognized for their hard work and given the opportunity to shine like the stars they are.
